Adestela Bradley is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who is passionate about working with children and families.
Adestela finds working with children fascinating; it has taught her a lot about human development and uniqueness. She is passionate about co-regulation (between adults and children) and how impactful it is in setting the tone for a child’s own self-regulation. She shares that having the privilege to get to know a child’s inner world is the most wondrous and rewarding experience.
Previously an attorney in her native country of Brazil, she has always had an interest in mental health. Adestela followed her passion and obtained her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Now as a therapist, she is compassionate and devoted to each client with a holistic approach.
By day, Adestela is a Broward County elementary school counselor and teaches students interpersonal skills and emotional regulation. She provides counseling support to students in foster care and holds groups for students experiencing grief. In her role, she works closely with teachers and school staff to support students’ emotional wellness.
Adestela has experience in a variety of mental health settings, including working with families in crisis. She has worked closely with parents on positive parenting skills and parental stress management. She is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), is trauma-informed, and currently working on her Play Therapy credential.
On a more personal note…
Adestela was born in Manaus, Brazil, the heart of the Amazon rainforest – considered to be the largest ecological reservation on the planet. A fun fact about her is that her first name, Adestela, is a combination of her grandparents’ names, Adelino and Stella. To this day, according to Facebook, there is only one other person with the same name – Brazilians are very creative when naming their children!
She is the mother to two teenage boys and one rescue dog. In her spare time, among other things, she enjoys reading about everything from neuroscience to mental health to quantum physics. She also enjoys listening to and playing musical instruments with her children. Their bedtime routine includes meditation, and the dog loves to be a part of it.
Bi-lingual in English and Portuguese.
Adestela offers after-school and evening appointments.
She looks forward to helping your child and family.
