Online counseling also known as e-counseling, distance counseling and Telemental health, is receiving therapy through electronic means where the client and the therapist are in two different locations. Video sessions are accessed through a secure video conferencing platform.
After meeting in the office for our initial session, I will assess whether online counseling is a good fit for treatment. I will walk you through setting up online counseling sessions. I use SimplePractice a secure and HIPPA compliant platform. Sessions are protected with bank-level encryption and security. All you need is a reliable internet connection on any device (computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) with a webcam. You must choose a private remote location to further ensure confidentiality.
- College Students living on campus (Florida colleges only)
- Stay at home parents
- Family sessions when members are in different locations
- Between session coaching/consultation
- Limited access to transportation
- Co-parenting sessions when both parents cannot be in the office at the same time
Studies have found on-line counseling to be as effective as “in-person” counseling.
Online counseling may be covered by your insurance plan. Please contact your insurance plan for coverage information on “Telehealth” services. I also offer multi-session packages if you prefer not to use insurance.
