About Our Practice

We are Weston's boutique counseling practice specializing in children, adolescents, and families. Established in 2012 and led by Andrea Vargas LMHC, RPT-S™, with over 20 years of experience, our team of specialized clinicians brings expertise in working with children, teens, and families.

We offer in-person sessions to children of all ages, teens, and their families across Broward County including Weston, Davie, Cooper City, Plantation, Southwest Ranches, West Pembroke Pines, and West Miramar. We also support college students and offer telehealth services across Florida. Virtual sessions are available for parents as well, because we know your schedule doesn't always make in-person easy.

Our office is thoughtfully and beautifully designed with your family in mind, including two fully equipped playrooms that give children a safe space to express and process their world.

Children and teens come to us navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavioral challenges, trauma, social difficulties, and life transitions — and we help them make sense of what they are going through, build the confidence to navigate their challenges, and give parents the tools to support lasting change at home.

Our intentionally small team consists of true specialists in working with children — and we are passionate about it. We also happen to be parents ourselves, which means we understand both sides of the room. We know you want guidance without judgment, and that you want to feel confident in how to support, understand, and connect with your child. Supporting you is just as important to us as supporting your child.

Our approach begins with a thoughtfully designed intake process that takes the time to understand your child as a whole. From there, a personalized plan is created — one that is exclusively tailored to your child and your family. Sessions may include individual, family, and parent sessions, and when helpful we collaborate with teachers and other providers in your child's world.

Play Therapy is at the heart of everything we do. It is one of the most powerful and effective treatment approaches for children between the ages of 3 and 12 — and unlike talk therapy, it meets children exactly where they are developmentally. Play is a child's language, and our therapists are trained to listen to it, gaining valuable insight into how your child sees themselves and their world. Through therapeutic play your child will develop healthier ways of thinking, behaving, and coping.

As children grow into teens our approach grows with them. Getting to know their world — their interests, their friendships, what matters to them — is not small talk. It is the crucial first step that builds the kind of connection that makes a teenager a willing participant in therapy and open to the deeper work.

We know that reaching out for help is not always easy — but it is one of the most important things you can do for your child. Our dedicated team is here to listen, answer your questions, and make sure you feel confident from the very first conversation. Finding the right fit matters deeply to us — and because we are so connected to this community, if another specialist would serve your child better we will make sure you find them.

You want the best for your child. So do we.

Our GUIDING PRINCIPLES

UNDERSTANDING

Focus beyond behavior and symptoms to obtain an in-depth understanding of our young clients and design a more holistic and comprehensive treatment plan.

COLLABORATION

Parents are provided with insight, feedback, and tools to better support, communicate, and reconnect with their child. Working with the adults in the child’s world for better treatment outcomes.

CONNECTION

Taking time to build trust by listening without judgment allows for better healing. Operating from an Attachment Theory lens to strengthen the parent-child dynamic.

PLAY

Working with children and meeting them where they are developmentally utilizing play therapy to allow them to express and process their thoughts and feelings in the same way adults can with talk therapy.

What it’s like to work with us

“IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD”

We believe that your child’s treatment outcome is most successful when the people in their lives are included in the process. A collaborative team approach is ideal when children are in counseling.

an important note

Our support doesn’t stop in the therapy room.

We understand that your child or teen may benefit from additional support or resources beyond just therapy. Our team is happy to coordinate with other providers (including psychiatrists and physicians) as well as school systems in the development of IEPs.
